About the Workshop
Systems biology and big data science are remarkably impacting our understanding of infectious diseases, metabolic disorders, and cancers. Rapidly moving fields such as genomics and proteomics, with their technological innovations, now generate large amounts of quantitative data at scales ranging from molecular to organismal levels. However, quickly adopting computational tools for interrogating even readily available large-scale data continues to pose challenges for biologists. To this end, NII plans to conduct a workshop on “Computational Genomics and Computational Biology” on campus to train ~ fifteen NII researchers through sixteen three-hour sessions spanning from 22nd March 2025 to 17th May 2025. Dr Rintu Kutum, Faculty Fellow of Computer Science and Trivedi School of Biosciences at the Ashoka University, will be the chief resource person in this workshop. Dr Kutum leads the Augmented Health Systems group that works at the intersection of biology, health and applied computer science. The workshop is designed to be a combination of theoretical and hands-on sessions, providing students the opportunity to delve into large-scale data analysis. By analysing transcriptomics data with open-source scientific computing, participants will gain experience in the ecosystem of genome informatics.
Important Notes
Please find the detailed curriculum and course schedule HERE.
Please find the registration form HERE. Fill in, get it signed by your supervisor, and email the PDF back to compbiol_workshop@nii.ac.in.
The last date to submit the registration form is 14th March 2025. No registration fee is required.
Due to limited seats, shortlisting will be carried out based on the statement of purpose provided in the registration form by the candidate. Efforts will be made to ensure that at least one candidate from each group is accommodated.
All candidates will be notified about the actual shortlisting by 16th March. Participants will be required to bring their laptops –they will receive assistance from teaching instructors (TA) during the hands-on session.
Looking forward to seeing you at the workshop!
